The AMHA
The Austin Metro Hockey Association (AMHA) is the governing body over the youth hockey program in Austin, TX.
Vision Statement:
To actively support and promote youth ice hockey in the Austin Metro area.
Beliefs that support our Vision:
- We believe in the principles and philosophies of USA Hockey’s ADM program for growing “hockey for life” kids.
- We believe in More Ice. More Hockey. More Fun.
- We believe in a “no jerks allowed” policy when it comes to our customers, employees and stakeholders.
- We believe kids can be coached and mentored through sports in a way that helps them develop character and “life skills” which will serve them well beyond their time on the ice.
- We believe that when failure is prohibited, the possibilities of innovation, growth and progress die.
Mission Statement:
Austin Metro Hockey Association is dedicated to the development of a life-long love and passion for the game of hockey. We teach hockey skills and teamwork to players of all ages and skill levels while building self-confidence, character, sportsmanship and citizenship in young men and women. We foster parent involvement, a sense of community, teamwork and respect for players, coaches, officials and spectators alike, both on and off the ice. See you at the rink and --- GO STARS!
Core Values:
In operating the youth programming, the Austin Metro Hockey Association will put player development and integrity at the forefront of all planning and decision-making. The collective goals of the AMHA will be as follows:
- To promote the ‘Long Term Player Development Model’ (LTPDM) that focuses on the player’s development, whether the player is beginner or advanced.
- Make decisions to foster the development of our hockey family and community within the greater Austin area.
- Foster a development and mentoring environment which advances youth hockey in a positive manner.
- To resist activity that does not strengthen the core youth hockey program.
